Local area high school students enrolled in private or public schools who are enthusiastic about volunteerism, philanthropy, community outreach, and leadership! Students may run as an individual or as a team of two or three.
The Students of the Year Campaign is an seven week initiative in which nominated high school students participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Georgia Chapter. Nominated students are selected as Students of the Year candidates via the LLS selection committee. Selection is based upon an application submitted by each interested student. Candidates will raise money in honor of a patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. The candidate(s) who raise the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student or Students of the Year. In addition, there is a Citizenship Award for the student candidate(s) who have demonstrated exceptional integration of the LLS mission throughout their campaign.
Campaign Launch - January 28, 2021
Grand Finale Gala - March 19, 2021
Join an elite group of student leaders in the fight against cancer and improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families. Leukemia is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20. Students will build their college resume with this leadership and philanthropic adventure and are eligible for scholarship initiatives. The Student(s) of the Year will receive a $1,500 scholarship (Total) toward the college or university of his/her choice.
Students rally their communities, schools, and families to support their fundraising efforts. Along with their own web sites, students will work with LLS staff to set a fundraising goal and develop an action plan to reach that goal. LLS will provide fundraising materials and support throughout the campaign. Each candidate and their campaign team will brainstorm with LLS to determine a plan for success.
