Special Events
One of the main ways that volunteers support our chapter is by assisting us at LLS special events. These are events such as the
Scott Firefighter Stairclimb
, the
Big Climb
and our
Light The Night Walks
which are typically one day only. The events are supported almost entirely by volunteers so it’s always important that we have great people to help out. Our larger events like the Climbs require at least 300-400 volunteers on event day.
You can register to volunteer for upcoming events anytime by clicking the hyperlinks on our chapter's volunteer page
here
(the links will direct you to the individual sign-up forms). If you would like additional information on a particular event, or to be notified when we are recruiting, please put a check mark next to the event(s) below:
Firefighter Stairclimb (held annually in March at the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle)
Big Climb (held annually in March at the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle)
Man & Woman of the Year Gala (21+, held annually in the spring in Seattle)
Greater Washington Light The Night Walk (held annually in October at the Seattle Center)
Winter Pineapple Classic (held annually in November at Marymoor Park)
In-Office Volunteering
We have many projects here at our office in Georgetown (5601 6th Ave S, Seattle) throughout the year and are almost always in need of volunteer help. Projects range from putting together event packets, labeling fundraising mailers, scanning event timing chips, updating our databases, and much more. We have some volunteers who come in on a weekly basis and many more who help out as needed on larger projects.
In-office volunteering coincides with our chapter's office hours, M-F from 9am-5pm
. Would you be interested in volunteering in this capacity?

Additional LLS Campaign Opportunities:
From time-to-time we need help with additional special projects that may be more specific to a particular volunteer’s interests or schedule. These opportunities may require additional training or fall outside the typical volunteer days/times. Please check next to any special opportunities that you are interested in below:
Running assemblies for our School & Youth / Pennies for Patients program (campaign runs annually between Jan-Apr across WA & AK)
Becoming an Ambassador for our Light The Night Campaign by participating in grassroots marketing, sponsor store visits, and delivering materials to health care facilities (year-round, across WA & AK)
Becoming a First Connection volunteer and working directly with blood cancer patients and their families (must be a survivor or caretaker)
Becoming a Field Advocate and helping to advance LLS policy goals
Miscellaneous Opportunities
We often have additional volunteer opportunities come up such as handing out campaign flyers, manning LLS booths at outside events (sporting events, fun runs, conferences, etc.), and helping at 3rd party fundraisers. Would you like to be notified when these opportunities come up?
